The exhibition “Wealth instead of Capital” at the Architekturzentrum Wien focuses on resource-saving architectural concepts by Anupama Kundoo until mid-February 2026.
Alternative architectural approaches by Anupama Kundoo
The Architekturzentrum Wien (Az W) is dedicating a comprehensive solo exhibition to the Indian architect Anupama Kundoo under the title “Wealth instead of Capital”. Projects will be shown that use local resources and propose a new relationship between time, money and materials. According to the organizers, the exhibition sees itself as a manifesto for an architecture that emancipates itself from industrial construction and the constraints of the market.
According to the AzW, Kundoo designs buildings that combine social and ecological responsibility. Their way of working relies on craftsmanship, reuse of materials and local construction methods. The exhibition makes these approaches tangible and asks the question of how architecture can contribute to greater social justice and ecological sustainability.
The accompanying volume is "Abundance Not Capital. The Lively Architecture of Anupama Kundoo", edited by Angelika Fitz, Elke Krasny and Az W. Guided tours with curators and in a dialogue format complement the program.
