Hope for hybrid heating
Bosch is launching a hybrid gas heater in Austria. What's special: It can easily be combined with a heat pump or converted entirely to a heat pump.

Hope for hybrid heating
"Registrations of hybrid cars have increased by 40 percent in Austria this year. This shows me that the Austrians are ready to invest in interim solutions." With this remark, Bosch Austria boss Helmut Weinwurm described his expectations when presenting an extraordinary new product: With the Compress Hybrid 5800i G, Bosch Home Comfort is bringing a hybrid gas heater onto the market for the first time. The special thing about the device: It is extremely flexible. It can be used as a stand-alone gas heater, but in a next step it can also be expanded at any time by integrating a heat pump outdoor unit. Depending on the design, this supplies up to 80 percent of the energy required and largely uses heat from the environment.
Very flexible
The integration is made easier by the integrated hydraulics. And if the operator decides at some point to completely switch to a heat pump, this is also possible: the device can be completely converted into a heat pump with an e-heater unit that replaces the existing gas heat exchanger. The hybrid device has been on the market in Germany for three years. There it accounts for 20 percent of gas heating sales. Bosch manager Weinwurm believes this is also possible for Austria: "The heat pump is certainly the solution for the future. But the changeover probably won't happen as quickly as we would like." The new hybrid device is the ideal decision for those customers who are not yet sure when they want or can make the large investment in a heat pump.
