Panasonic invests 320 million in Pilsen
Panasonic has opened its modernized and expanded heat pump factory in Pilsen, Czech Republic. With an investment of 320 million euros, the location will grow three and a half times to 140,000 square meters. It will produce up to 1.4 million indoor and outdoor units per year for the European market by 2030. According to Panasonic, the relocation of production and research to Europe underlines the group's “Green Impact” strategy: shorter supply chains, lower CO₂ footprint and strengthening the European energy transition. According to Panasonic, the production facility is a "CO2 net zero factory" because the site is operated with a combination of green energy from the factory's own 1 MW photovoltaic system on the roof of the factory, the use of waste heat from fans and compressors, and the purchase of green electricity and thermal energy.
12.2 billion
Panasonic is responding to the booming market with the new Giga factory: In 2024, the European heat pump market was estimated at 12.2 billion euros. It is expected to reach more than 71 billion euros by 2034. “Our investment in the Pilsen plant demonstrates both our confidence in the growth of the market and our ability to anticipate and meet future demand,” said Toshikatsu Fukunaga, CEO of Panasonic Heating, Ventilation, Airconditioning (HVAC) Europe.
