Strabag is building a mega wind farm in Romania
Strabag Romania is the general contractor for the construction of the 140 megawatt Deleni wind farm project in the Moldova region of Romania. The Strabag subsidiary plans and builds the green electricity plant by the end of 2025. Once completed, the plant is expected to generate 370 gigawatt hours annually. This means that 62,000 households can be supplied with green electricity each year. At the same time, CO2 emissions are to be reduced by 215,000 tons annually.
Starting in March
Strabag began construction in March 2025: 23 turbine foundations were erected, 36 kilometers of access roads were built and comprehensive drainage systems were implemented. To provide power, 110 kilometers of medium-voltage cables were laid and four substations were built. The Deleni wind farm is intended to contribute to greater grid stability and energy security. “As part of our strategic focus on the energy sector, we are proud to be making our contribution to the energy transition,” says Strabag boss Stefan Kratochwill. “The wind farm initiative in Deleni is part of a series of flagship projects, such as the construction of the largest wind farm in Latin America or major grid expansions to support the energy transition in Germany.”
