Shortly after landing, the 44 participants marched into the official reception at the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ) and were duly celebrated for their sensational achievements. "Your achievements are impressive and at the same time crucial for Austria's future. What you showed at the Euro Skills shows how strong our dual training system is," said Andreas Herz, Vice President of the (WKÖ). “It doesn’t work without highly trained specialists like you – you are the engine that drives our economy.”
"Austria's construction professions traditionally do very well in international professional competitions. These results underline the high level of domestic construction training," says Robert Jägersberger, Federal Guild Master of the Construction Industry. “I congratulate the participants and of course also their employers and trainers on their achievements.”
Anton Berger, Federal Guild Master of Plumbing, Heating and Ventilation Technicians, was also full of praise: "We are very proud of Johannes, who brings home this outstanding success. His fantastic performance shows once again that we have an excellent dual vocational training system in Austria, which offers young professionals the best basis to achieve such success in competition with other nations with a lot of hard work and craftsmanship can."
With its haul, Team Austria took third place in the nations rankings behind France and Germany. In the red-white-red internal ranking, Upper Austria was at the top (2 x gold, 2 x silver, 1 x bronze), ahead of Lower Austria (2 x gold) and Vorarlberg (1 x gold, 1 x silver). Both structural engineers and concrete workers continued their impressive series of successes with numerous medals at the European and World Professional Championships over the past ten years.
But after the competition is before the competition: Austrian Skills 2025 will continue in November. From November 20th to 23rd, the best young specialists in the country will compete against each other in 53 professions at the Salzburg Exhibition Center. At the same time, five professions will be held as independent “Independent Skills Championships Europe”: digital construction, glass construction technology, plumber and stonemason in Salzburg, butcher in Switzerland. The best in Austrian skills will be chasing medals at the 2026 World Championships in Shanghai.
