Open doors & windows with a success story
The entrepreneur Ulli Reischl-Kaun has been running the family business founded 115 years ago in St. Florian in the Linz-Land district for 25 years under the name “Kaun the carpenter”. This double anniversary was recently celebrated extensively.

Open doors & windows with a success story

Ulli Reischl-Kaun studied art history, and at the same time she also completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter, including a master's degree. In 2000 the time had come: Kurt Kaun handed it over Operation to Ulli Reischl-Kaun. "Right from the start, I built a team structure in the company in which the teams function like small companies. Our motto for success was and is: Offer your customers a benefit. That's what we're all about. We don't sell windows, doors, kitchens, cupboards, we sell living and lifestyle attitudes. Precisely because products and services are becoming increasingly similar, we put customers with all their wishes and needs at the center of our corporate strategy," says the managing director of traditional business.
Service is the benchmark
The difference lies in the personal, human interaction with the customer. It is precisely in daily service, operation and aftercare that it is decided whether service and reliability are just theory or living practice. "For us, service is the benchmark for entrepreneurial success. While others get caught up in the price spiral, we rely on service," says Reischl-Kaun. A management that only has the cheapest price in mind will find it increasingly difficult to differentiate itself in the future. Service is the common thread of the success story at the traditional Kaun company. "Many people can produce furniture. While others relocate production abroad in order to bring even cheaper products onto the market, we remain a regionally anchored company with a focus on individual planning and personal support - whether with windows, doors, kitchens, furniture, or even renovation - we are strong here and offer long-lasting renovation systems even for aging windows and doors," says Ulli Reischl-Kaun.
Successful, even in times of crisis
The success of her brand strategy proves her right, as Reischl-Kaun and her approximately 120 employees can look forward to an increase in sales even in difficult times due to the construction crisis: "For us, customer orientation means listening to the customer. Before we start planning, we listen to what they really want and what living and life wishes shape their thinking." The fact that the path chosen by Kaun has turned out to be successful is increasingly evident in the fact that many of the customers come on the recommendation of existing customers. “Satisfied regular customers in particular are a bubbling source of new customers for us.”
celebrate festivals
Reischl-Kaun runs the company with her co-managing director Georg Feichtenschlager. The two of them work with great sensitivity for the approximately 120 employees. The benefits include not only the four-day week (every second Friday is free), but also a number of other advantages. This also includes employee parties and the open day, which was celebrated with “timpani and trumpets” to mark the carpenter's 25th anniversary on September 26th. “115 and 25 years of Kaun in St. Florian are a good reason to celebrate and cheer,” says Mayor Bernd Schützeneder happily.(gh)
