A journey through the design world

“The Blickfang is a journey of discovery through the world of design – inspiring, diverse and full of stories that you learn directly from the designers themselves,” says Saskia Kusterer, project manager Eye-catcher Vienna.

Furniture that moves with life

Among others there is the German designer Insa Decker. With Babereti she has created a multifunctional piece of furniture that adapts to every stage of life. Four modules form the basis - and become a bench, bed, shelf or table as required. The individual modules are handy and can be easily transported. There are two versions of the table: a more stable desk version and a dining table version with two benches. The idea arose from Decker's own experiences: moving several times during his studies, always accompanied by the question of which pieces would stay and which would be allowed to go with him. With her flexible furniture, the designer solves this problem in an elegant way - through handiness, variability and a construction that grows with you and adapts to new rooms. Made from local wood and designed so that repair and further use are a given, Babereti becomes a life companion.

Experience Japanese design

One of the most exciting stops this year is the Japan Design Corner, curated by the Viennese concept store Habari. Anyone who enters the exhibition feels like they have been transported to another world: fine wooden elements, clear lines, lights, ceramics and textiles that tell of Japanese craftsmanship. Here, Japanese minimalism is cleverly interwoven with international design aesthetics - the result is a trade fair stand that is more of an exhibition than a sales area. In addition to the presentation of selected objects, the corner also offers interactive workshops.

Important platform

"The Blickfang in Vienna is important because it offers a platform on which independent designers can present their work and buyers can get in touch with them directly. It promotes the exchange between creative minds and design-savvy people, which leads to new ideas and trends," says interior designer Ulrike Nebengauer, founder of the interior studio "UNA plans".
