The award, given every two years by Network Metal, has been honoring the performance, innovative strength and excellence of Austrian steel, glass and metal construction companies since 2016. Metal architecture at Linz's Mariendom

The winning project impressed with its complex architectural requirements, design sophistication and technical precision. The free-standing structure at Mariendom Linz is characterized by three sculptural, seemingly floating canopies, curved triple insulating glazing in special formats, frameless glass facades and sophisticated drainage solutions on a curved roof structure - realized under monument protection regulations and high time pressure.

“The projectMariendom Center Linzis an example of what we want to recognize with the Best of Class Award: technical precision, creative design and solution-oriented craftsmanship at the highest level.” Thomas Weber,Managing Director Network Metal

The winners were determined in a two-stage selection process: After a member vote, the three best-rated projects will be included in the final round. There, a jury from the board of the Metal Network decides based on the criteria of progressiveness, efficiency, innovation and design.
