Symposium for experts in the glazing trade

With 107 participants from all nine Austrian federal states, plus guests from South Tyrol and Germany, there was once again great interest in this platform. The industry representatives were particularly welcomed: Federal Guild Master Deputy Gerald Mutzl, club honorary chairman Martin Laggner, the former Carinthian State Guild Master Christian Starzacher and the current State Guild Master Andreas Bodner.

Specialist program: future topics and practical relevance

The program offered a wide selection of specialist lectures, discussions and practical insights. The focus was, among other things, the CO₂ footprint of insulating glass, Önormen and warranties, renovation with thin glass, the glazier's craft in the historic stock and the “renovation instead of replacement” approach as a contribution to sustainability. The program was supplemented by practical topics such as error analysis in UV bonding, fire protection in theory and experiments and insights into current developments on the glass market.

Among them: Johannes Fiechtl, who presented the success story of the Austrian and EuroSkills and underlined the importance of professional qualifications. Michael Fiedler, who spoke about climate loads on insulating glass. Michael Marte, who reported on current ÖNorm news and updates. Martin Laggner, whose lecture “From practice for practice” was very well received. Frank Kleeberg, who examined damage cases from an insurance perspective. Andreas Bodner, who presented the new hygiene seal of approval for all-glass showers. Franz Schreibmaier (Bohle), who discussed sources of errors and how to avoid them in UV bonding.

There was room for discussions and networking between the lectures - a mixture of a specialist congress and a glaziers' get-together with real added value for everyone involved.

Exclusive supporting program

The supporting program made a significant contribution to the success: a visit to the Liaunig Museum (Neuhaus) on Thursday introduced the cultural diversity of the region. In the evening, the participants enjoyed a festive five-course gala dinner in the hotel before the day ended in the Seeclub bar directly on the lakeshore.

Friday evening was characterized by a “rustic evening” in the Kollmann inn in St. Paul im Lavanttal with regional home cooking. Here too, a relaxed end to the lake rounded off the day. An attractive program was offered for the accompanying persons: a three-lake trip including a visit to the Sablatnig Moor, wellness offers and a pedal boat ride on Saturday - a successful mix of nature, relaxation and conviviality.

Thanks and outlook

A symposium of this size depends on organization, passion and reliability. This is exactly what Chairman Sepp Tschebull proved once again, who organized the symposium with great commitment and made it a highlight both professionally and socially.

Many participants returned home well informed, connected and inspired. And the symposium impressively showed that the glazing trade is an industry with dynamism, innovative strength and a strong community spirit - and the experts make a significant contribution to ensuring quality and progress.
